The Drinking Water Directive (DWD) in a nutshell

High quality, safe and sufficient drinking water is essential for public health and well-being. The Directive EU 2020/2184 (recast Drinking Water Directive - DWD) is the EU’s main law regulating the access to and the quality of water intended for human consumption. The Directive applies to all water intended for human consumption and ensures that water intended for human consumption can be consumed safely, leading to a high level of health protection.
